GPA-MN is the Minnesota chapter of Greyhound Pets of America (GPA). The purpose of Greyhound Pets of America (GPA) is to find responsible loving homes for greyhounds, to acquaint the public with the desirability of greyhounds as pets, and to inform them of the availability of greyhounds for adoption. Greyhound Pets of America Minnesota (GPA MN) is a Twin Cities based volunteer run organization that places greyhounds in Minnesota, western Wisconsin, and eastern North and South Dakota.

Connecticut Greyhound Adoption

Connecticut Greyhound Adoption - GPA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all-volunteer organization based in the Farmington Valley. Our goal is to help find forever homes for as many retired racing Greyhounds as possible. Our group is strongly committed to outreach and believe that we can best help the hounds by educating and informing the public about the joys or sharing one's home with a retired racing Greyhound. Currently transporting Greyhounds from Ireland to find new homes in the US.

GREYHOUND PETS OF AMERICA/LAandMS

GPA/LAandMS is located in Covington, Louisiana, and is a chapter of Greyhound Pets of America.  The purpose of Greyhound Pets of America(GPA) is to find responsible loving homes for Greyhounds, to acquaint the public with the desirability of Greyhounds as pets, and to inform them of the availability of Greyhounds for adoption.

Greyhound Pets of America was founded in 1987 to find homes for racing greyhounds when their racing careers were finished. Through the support of our volunteers and countless hours that they have given, GPA and its chapters, including this one, have adopted over 80,000 greyhounds to homes throughout the country.

With recent flooding in Louisiana and throughout the area, many homes have been flooded, and many foster dogs have had to be moved.  The most pressing need is for dog food, and if you feel able to donate directly, donations can be sent to GPA/LAandMS at 25 Pipes Loop, Covington, LA  70435-9509.

Meanwhile, any purchase you make this month in the H4H shop will also bring help where it is needed.

Charity of the Month: September

SHOPPING HERE HELPS HOUNDS! This month ALL PROCEEDS will be donated to GPA Louisville - www.gpalouisville.org.

Greyhound Pets of America-Louisville
is a very small adoption group and we do not have a kennel or facility where we can keep greyhounds coming off the track.  We rely on foster homes as well as bringing in greyhounds when we have applications and they are approved for adoption.  Most of our greyhounds come from a kennel/track (Tri State) in Charleston, WV and there are times when we bring in some from Florida or Kansas.  We recently brought in 7 greyhounds from a kennel in Florida that was closing.

Through a unique partnership with the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), Greyhound Pets of America/Louisville has entered into a special partnership to promote responsibility and provide opportunities for career development of at-risk youth within Morehead Youth Development Center (MYDC).  This program provides transitional care and basic obedience training for newly retired racing Greyhounds, en route to their new “Forever Homes”.  This is a 12 week program and the teenage girls come from troubled homes where they do not get the love they so desire, and they most definitely get unconditional love from the retired racing greyhounds.  This is a win-win for not only the girls, but also GPA-Louisville because with the girls fostering, our group’s fosters are available to foster additional greyhounds.

We recently set a record of adopting 16 retired racing greyhounds in one month!  That averages out to approximately 4 greyhounds per week!! For more information, please visit www.gpalouisville.org

Greyhound Pets of America-Central Texas

(GPA-CT)

GPA-CT is a chapter of Greyhound Pets of America, a national 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to find responsible loving homes for greyhounds, to acquaint the public with the desirability of greyhounds as pets and to inform them of the availability of greyhounds for adoption.

GPA-CT places all dogs in foster homes upon coming into our group. This helps us get to know the dog and their personality before they go to their home. We pride ourselves in helping you pick the perfect dog. While the dogs are at their foster home, they are taken to the veterinarian to get spayed or neutered, all their shots, have their teeth cleaned, and heartworm tested. During this time, they are also evaluated for injuries or health problems.

GPA-CT hosts Meet & Greets at different pet stores and other locations to show off our greyhounds and to let people know what good pets they make. If you are looking for a good, healthy, wonderful dog as a pet, please consider adopting a greyhound.

GPA DAYTONA BEACH

 

 

Greyhound Pets of America/Daytona Beach (GPA/Daytona Beach) is a chapter of a national 501c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to finding responsible, loving homes for retired racing greyhounds. GPA/Daytona Beach maintains a kennel of 110-120 dogs with a waiting list of at least 100 dogs waiting to come in to our facility. Greyhound pets are affordable to own, low maintenance, mellow in temperament, housebroken and easy to train. They are also friendly with other pets, eager to please and intelligent. The sponsors of GPA/Daytona Beach volunteer at various locations around the Daytona Beach area to raise awareness, introduce prospective families to their new pets and provide adoption as an option.

Charity of the Month: April

Handmade4Hounds Shop on Etsy helps hounds find their forever homes.  This month all proceeds, minus fees, will be donated to Greyhound Pets of America Senior Sactuary of Florida. 

Greyhound Pets of America Senior Sanctuary of Florida(a 501C3 charity) is a group of volunteers who are dedicated to placing senior greyhounds over the age of seven either in permanent foster homes or hopefully with new adoptive families. We are also dedicated to educating the public of the importance and true meaning of lifelong commitment when adopting.



Senior greyhounds are friendly, intelligent, affectionate dogs that thrive on attention. When their racing careers are over, they make marvelous companions. Unfortunately, there are many senior greyhounds retired from breeding, abandoned in shelters, or thoughtlessly returned by their adopters to the adoption groups they originated from. It is unfair and extremely sad that, at an elderly age when they should be relaxing and enjoying the golden years of their lives, they are being bounced around and left to be forgotten. This is why the Senior Sanctuary was formed.
