November's Charity of the Month

We raised over $250 for September/October's Charity! We went from our worst month to our best month after a "drive" for more item donations. Our members sure stepped up! There are SO many greyt new items in the store - check 'em out!

This month Lenora, one of the H4H leaders, has chosen LIGHT - Long Island GreyHound Transfer. Their website is www.LIGreyhound.org LIGHT has placed over 1200 retired racing greyhounds since they started in 1995, and the organization is entirely run by volunteers. Our sympathies are with Lenora who recently lost a greyt boy, Wyatt.

Pictured below is Fella, one of the greyhounds up for adoption by LIGHT. They say he's so easy going - I bet he doesnt even mind that he's wearing a pink collar!!

Featured Team Member: PennyDogAccessories

My name is Kerry, I'm 22 and live in Leicestershire in the UK with my partner Alex and our greyhound Penny. I sell resin and acrylic jewellery on Etsy, not necessarily greyhound themed, but with a greyhound charity in mind. I have been making jewellery in various forms for 10 years, working with resin for a year and only a month or so with the saw and acrylic sheets! £1 ($2) from everything I sell goes to the Retired Greyhound Trust in the UK who provided a lot of treatment for Penny when we adopted her, and this is my way to repay them. She was ten years old and in bad shape, she still has a lot of fur missing from her legs and her belly, but it was all paid for, which is something we could have never afforded. Thank you RGT www.retiredgreyhounds.co.uk!

Penny's Etsy store is at
pennydogaccessories.etsy.com.
Her resin necklaces, earrings and more are just adorable! Thanks Penny for helping the hounds and H4H!

Featured Member: Greyhound Greetings

My name is Sue Bero, and my life changed 6 years ago when we adopted our first Greyhound, Jacki. Then, almost 2 years ago, we adopted our boy, Sunny. I have always loved animals, but there is something very special about Greyhounds in particular. I am a self-employed accountant by day, and a hobby crafter by night! I work with Colorado Greyhound Adoption and part of all proceeds from Greyhound Greetings benefits Greyhound rescue and adoption. If your local adoption group would like a donation for fund-raising, please contact me at email.
Sue sells Greyhound and pet items on Etsy, EBay, at www.GreyhoundGreetings.com AND of course handmade4hounds.etsy.com. Sue also helps H4H with administrative duties such as posting items to the H4H store. Thanks Sue!

September & October's Charity of the Month

In August, we raised $116.00 for Colorado Greyhound Adoption.

Our charity group for these two months is Greyhound Gang, chosen by H4H member Kim (www.toadbriar.etsy.com). Greyhound Gang is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and adoption of ex-racing greyhounds. The founder, Claudia, concentrates G.G. on fundraising for this mission, and also on special needs adoptions. For more information about Greyhound Gang, visit http://www.greyhoundgang.org/index.php The website has extensive information on adopting greyhounds and how to acclimate them to home life. There is also an online store selling everything from educational booklets, to tshirts, to flowers, all to fund Claudia's quest to help the fabulous greyhound.

We only raised $8 in September for Greyhound Gang, so we are extending through October. You can help by telling all your Greyhound/SightHound friends about the H4H shop!

Hounds We Love

Handmade4Hounds Mission Statement

We have two primary goals: promoting the support of independent artists and to raise money to support Greyhound adoption. Many programs are in desperate need of funds in order to continue serving racers. Handmade4Hounds is a team of immense creative energy on a mission to invite people to open up their hearts and homes to this special breed of dog.

The individual members of the Handmade4Hounds Team support Greyhound Adoption in several different ways including:

  • Donating a portion of the sales of their Etsy shops
  • Creating handmade items to be used in auctions and raffles at Greyhound Fundraising Events and Reunion Picnics
  • Adopting and Fostering Greyhounds
  • Attending Meet & Greet and Adoption Awareness Events
  • Maintaining a Handmade4Hounds Etsy Shop where 100% of the proceeds goes to the hounds.
