Charity of the Month: Friends of Retired Greyhounds, April 2019

SHOPPING HERE HELPS HOUNDS! This month ALL PROCEEDS will be donated to FRIENDS OF RETIRED GREYHOUNDS

Friends of Retired Greyhounds is a 501c3 non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to working with kennel operators and other adoption groups to place retired greyhounds in responsible, loving homes. Our organization works with veterinarians to insure that dogs adopted from FOR Greyhounds are vaccinated, and in general good health before placing them in homes. In addition to this, we educate individual and groups about greyhounds, their history, their lives as racing dogs, and our adoption program.
BREAKING NEWS!  dateline FORG -

"We are three short weeks away from leaving for Spain to bring back some of the so deserving Galgos currently residing at Scooby Medina.  Although there are so many of these precious animals that need to be rehomed, FORG, along with Daphne Legacy Tours, has asked Scooby Medina to allow us to bring back 36 that have been in the shelter the longest.  There are some that in their short lives have spent more time in the shelter than they have outside the shelter.  Many of these galgos are under three years of age and they have only known shelter life.
It averages $1,000 a galgo to get them to the US so your help is greytly needed and appreciated. Again - thank you for helping us help the Spanish Galgo."

Charity of the Month: American Lurcher Project, June 2018

SHOPPING HERE HELPS HOUNDS! This month ALL PROCEEDS  from the Handmade4Hounds Shop on Etsy, minus fees, will be donated to

(formerly Ohio Lurcher Project)

The American Lurcher Project Team works on behalf of the lurchers (greyhound mixed breeds) to get them to responsible adoption groups. We believe these wonderful dogs deserve a second chance to live a life in a real home. Lurchers have a wonderful strong spirit and most of the lurchers adjust quickly and are very appreciative of their new home and family. We are not an adoption group, but we rescue and transport the dogs to groups throughout the United States and Canada. We are forever indebted to the adoption groups who have taken these wonderful dogs and given them a second chance.  More information at www.americanlurcherproject.org

It's easy to help - just visit our Etsy shop and purchase anything during the month of June.  Please visit our ABOUT US page for more information.

All goods in the H4H shop are donated by Etsy artists and crafters to help sighthound rescue.

Charity of the Month: Galgo Rescue International Network, February 2018

SHOPPING HERE HELPS HOUNDS! This month ALL PROCEEDS  from the Handmade4Hounds Shop on Etsy, minus fees, will be donated to

The Galgo Rescue International Network (GRIN) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal welfare organization run entirely by volunteers that was founded to establish a relationship between the animal shelters in Spain and animal lovers in the US and around the world. Our love of greyhounds and concern for their plight drew us to their cousins — the galgos and podencos.
Since its inception in 2006, GRIN has rehomed hundreds of dogs (most of them galgos); provided thousands of leashes, collars, and coats to the shelters; delivered hundreds of pounds of medical supplies to the shelter clinics; and donated tens of thousands of dollars in cash to shelters.

Charity of the Month: Greyhound Friends for Life, January 2018

SHOPPING HERE HELPS HOUNDS!  This month ALL PROCEEDS will be donated to GREYHOUND FRIENDS FOR LIFE

Once again, we have chosen GFFL for our beneficiary group due to the repeated extreme disasters that have occurred in California.  First the wildfires (worst in state history), now devastating mudslides.

Some adopters were evacuated, some lost everything, and some are hoping that their homes survived. In the Tubbs Fire in October, GFFL lost it's van, office equipment, crates, sales merchandise, and our 2017 Reunion cash proceeds.

Not only will your donations help GFFL replace what we lost, but you will help our greyhound fire survivors as well as their adopters recover. We have received a tremendous outpouring and love and support, which has meant so much to those impacted by the fire. We will be eternally greytful for your donations, which will enable us to continue to find homes for ex-racing greyhounds and other greyhounds and greyhound mixes in need.

More info at http://www.greyhoundfriendsforlife.org

It's easy to help - just visit our Etsy shop and purchase anything during the month of November.  Please visit our ABOUT US page for more information.  Since 2008, we have raised over $35,000 for sighthound rescue.  All goods in the H4H shop are donated by Etsy artists and crafters to help this cause.

Artist Spotlight, April/May: Suzanne Hamer of Birds for Birds

We're starting a new feature to highlight our generous artists who donate their time and items to our shop to benefit sighthound rescues. This month we are featuring one of our newest donors, Suzanne.

From Suzanne: I was born in Seattle, Washington and still live in the area.  As a child I was always encouraged to draw and paint.  Our house was filled with art.  Later I attended Cornish Institute of the Arts.  I became very interested in photography and later, printmaking.

Animals have always been my passion and inspiration.  I have also been influenced by the Blue Rider and German Expressionism, which you can see in my bird prints. Lately,  I have become quite involved with a local greyhound rescue which has led to the creation of my greyhound and galgo prints.  I currently reside with 3 greyhounds and 1 galgo.

I donate all profits to animal charities.

Please take a look at Suzanne's shop, Birds for Birds, on Etsy.

We appreciate all of our generous artists! Check out our shop here
