The Greyhound Alliance

The Greyhound Alliance is dedicated to greyhound welfare, facilitating greyhound adoption and furthering education and support for greyhound owners, potential adopters, and the community at large. Whether through education, fundraising, or more hands-on efforts like transport and placement, we are committed to doing our part.

 

The Sunburst Project was developed as part of The good work of The Greyhound

 Alliance, and was designed to move Florida retiring greyhounds to non-racing

 states.  The Alliance opened its Sunburst Kennel at the Ebro Greyhound Park in

 the Florida Panhandle on August 1, 2011, with the goal of finding homes for as

 many retiring racing greyhounds from the Florida tracks as possible.  Since

 then, The Project has moved over 3,000 retired racing greyhounds from our

 Sunburst Kennel to 35 adoption groups in 22 states and Canada — an

unprecedented record. The Project has grown to include taking in retiring racers

THE AMERICAN LURCHER PROJECT

(formerly Ohio Lurcher Project)

 

The American Lurcher Project Team works on behalf of the lurchers (greyhound mixed breeds) to get them to responsible adoption groups. We believe these wonderful dogs deserve a second chance to live a life in a real home. Lurchers have a wonderful strong spirit and most of the lurchers adjust quickly and are very appreciative of their new home and family. We are not an adoption group, but we rescue and transport the dogs to groups throughout the United States and Canada. We are forever indebted to the adoption groups who have taken these wonderful dogs and given them a second chance.  More information at www.americanlurcherproject.org

GPA SENIOR SANCTUARY OF FLORIDA

GPA Senior Sanctuary of Florida is a group of volunteers who are dedicated to placing senior greyhounds over the age of seven either in permanent foster homes or hopefully with new adoptive families. They are also dedicated to educating the public of the importance and true meaning of lifelong commitment when adopting.

Senior greyhounds are friendly, intelligent, affectionate dogs that thrive on attention. When their racing careers are over, they make marvelous companions. Unfortunately, there are many senior greyhounds retired from breeding, abandoned in shelters, or thoughtlessly returned by their adopters to the adoption groups they originated from. It is unfair and extremely sad that, at an elderly age when they should be relaxing and enjoying the golden years of their lives, they are being bounced around and left to be forgotten. CENTRAL OHIO GREYHOUND RESCUE

 Central Ohio Greyhound Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit, all-volunteer 501( c )(3) organization that relies solely on fundraising and donations to carry out our mission of promoting greyhound adoption in the central Ohio area.   Between the track and their new homes, our hounds live with foster families where they learn the ropes of home life.   Our goal is to make lifelong placements for our greyhounds where both the people and dogs are happy.  We provide ongoing support to our greyhounds and adopters after the adoption.  For more information, please visit www.centralohiogreyhound.org

Galgo Podenco Support helps Spanish hounds find their way home. We support the Spanish charities that are dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of abandoned and abused Spanish hunting dogs, galgos and podencos. Additionally, we have 10 years of experience facilitating adoptions from Spain to the US.

Galgo Podenco Support is a Project of Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs (SEE), a registered public charity, which provides non-profit status. All donations are fully tax deductible.

The mission of Greyhounds Only is to place retired racing and at-risk greyhounds into responsible, loving homes, to educate the public about the greyhound breed, to provide access to high-quality medical care and to collaborate with others who share our common goals.

 

Greyhounds Only is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit greyhound rescue and adoption group based in Northeastern Illinois. We take in retired racing greyhounds from all over the country and find them good homes. Greyhound Adoptions of Florida (GAF)

GAF's Marilyn Varnberg says: "Greyhound Adoptions of Florida was founded almost 20 years ago with the express purpose of helping retired racing greyhounds find an adoptive home that would last forever. Over the years, we began to see the need to help the injured, the old and those who fell through the cracks....and there were so very many of those.

In the past two months, we have taken three broken leg dogs who needed surgery....their bills totaled over $10,000. These dogs deserve the same chance that any greyhound does....and thanks to so many of you, we have been able to give them that chance. Thank you all for your continued support!"
