Scooby North America is a 501 (c)3 non-profit that has been founded to form a conduit between the Protectora de Animales SCOOBY (also known as Scooby) Animal Sanctuary in Spain and the people of the United States. Our goals are to promote the rescue, rehabilitation and adoption of the Spanish Galgo and other mixed breeds through travel to Scooby. To provide a source of information and assistance to individuals wishing to travel to Scooby or adopt a Galgo. To coordinate rescue missions to Scooby with the governing body of Scooby. To work closely with Scooby to re-home Galgos and other mixed breed dogs in the United States by placing them with adoption groups until suitable permanent loving homes can be found. To establish a relationship between Scooby and animal lovers in North America and around the world. To assist with healthcare to the rescued Galgos and mixed breeds that returned to the United States (including, but not limited to, emergency care and routine medical care; spays and neuters are typically performed at Scooby prior to adoption.) To promote awareness of the plight of the Spanish Galgo amongst the public at large through international educational campaigns.  To provide assistance to Scooby to maintain and update the shelter. To conduct fundraisers and events designed to provide funding for the abovementioned functions.

Colorado Greyhound Adoption is a non-profit organization 501(c)3 devoted to placement and adoption of greyhounds. We are 100% volunteer-run, and available dogs are fostered in individual homes. Colorado Greyhound Adoption placed 383 greyhounds in their forever homes in our last fiscal year. Many had special medical needs, and our vet bills were $84,000. Our group is racing neutral and receives no track funding or support, so we rely on greyhound lovers like you to help these greyt dogs.

SOUTHERN ARIZONA GREYHOUND ADOPTION
www.sagreyhoundadoption.org

Southern Arizona Greyhound Adoption is an all-volunteer, 501 c 3 non-profit organization, which is dedicated to better the lives of ex-racing greyhounds by securing loving and qualified forever homes. We are located in Tucson, Arizona, a greyhound racing state. The greyhounds in our program come to us directly from the racing track.

To support our mission, greyhounds coming into our care are given pre-adoptive health services as well as neutering.  The dogs experience residential foster care to help them acclimate to a home environment.  We identify loving and responsible forever-home situations and provide an ongoing mentoring system to adopters.  We seek to educate the public about the wonderful greyhound breed and what great companions they make after their racing careers.

Charity of the Month: September

SHOPPING HERE HELPS HOUNDS!

This month all proceeds, minus fees, from the sales in the Handmade4Hounds Shop on Etsy will be donated to Greyhound Alliance for The Sunburst Project (www.greyhoundalliance.org).

The Greyhound Alliance is a 501(c)3, all-volunteer organization that has recently helped establish The Sunburst Project, a combined effort of three non-profit organizations: The Greyhound Alliance, The Northern Consortium and the Emerald Coast Chapter of Greyhound Pets of America. The groups will provide funding made possible by donations, expertise and volunteers to insure the care, transportation and adoption of retired racers from JCKC, Pensacola, Ebro and Mobile tracks. The Sunburst Project Kennel located at Ebro Greyhound Park, takes in overflow greyhounds from the Panhandle tracks on an as needed basis. The kennel serves as a staging point to provide veterinary care for the retired greyhounds, including physical exams, spay or neuter procedures, vaccinations and preparation for transport. We intend to assist with shelter and adoption of as many greyhounds as space and resources will allow. Since the project began in August of 2011, we have transported almost 1,000 retired racers to various adoption groups throughout the country and Canada.

Charity of the Month: July

The Handmade4Hounds Shop on Etsy helps a different adoption group each month. All the items in the shop are donated by various Etsy artists and crafters. This month all proceeds, minus fees, will be donated to Northern Greyhound Adoptions in St. Albans, VT (http://northerngreyhoundadoptions.org//).

N.G.A. is the only retired racing Greyhound adoption kennel in Vermont - and at any given time we have between 30 and 50 Greyhounds looking for their forever families!

As a non-profit Greyhound adoption organization, N.G.A.'s aim is to accommodate ex-racers, spay or neuter each individual, and integrate them into the surrounding communities. Each year, we strive to place 60 dogs. Dogs are welcomed into our kennel, and socialized with our volunteers and other Greyhounds as they relax and adjust into their retirement years. Pursuant to our mission, we work to educate the public and increase awareness of Greyhounds. N.G.A. places dogs throughout Vermont and Northern New York, as well as in Canada through The League of Extraordinary Greyhounds (T-Legs) in Montreal, Quebec and The Greyhound Supporters (GSNCR) in Ottawa, Ontario.
