For over 25 years, the National Greyhound Foundation’s mission statement has been to rescue, adopt, and educate the public about racing greyhounds and other abused people and animals.

We have always been NEUTRAL about Greyhound racing, but NOT NEUTRAL about animal cruelty or abuse to anyone, human or animal.

In 2010 the need to keep overflow retired greyhounds was desperate.  When the call was sent out to organizations for help, the Dept. of Corrections in numerous states answered.  And the 2nd Chance at Life Greyhound and Prison Partnership program was created. It was a win-win situation for everyone, people and these greyhounds.  Years later, we can point with pride at the thousands of greyhounds and “throw away people” this program has given a 2nd Chance at Life to!

Charity of the Month: James River Greyhounds, November 2019

When a greyhound's racing career has come to a close, they are looking for a loving “forever home”. These amazing, beautiful dogs are ready for a home life; much of their daily routine at the track translates well into life as a pet. They are eager to please, romp and of course lie down for a nap. 

James River Greyhounds (formerly GPA Richmond) has been dedicated to finding responsible, caring homes for retired racing greyhounds in Central Virginia since 1989. We have found "forever homes" for more than 1350 greyhounds - and counting! 

Our organization is run exclusively on donations and the efforts of dedicated volunteers to accomplish our mission of engaging and educating our communities about the need for greyhound adopters, to facilitate the adoption of retired racing greyhounds and, as an extended group across Central Virginia, enjoy these wonderful animals as pets.

Mid South GreyhoundAdoption Option in West Memphis, AR, a racing-supported, 501(c)(3) greyhound adoption organization, is endorsed by the National Greyhound Association as a partner in responsible adoption.

MSGAO's Mission is to provide shelter and care for retired and injured greyhounds and a means for the adoption of greyhounds by caring persons.  And to solicit, accept and administer contributions from the general public for the purpose of furthering its mission.

GreyhoundAdoption of Ohio is a nonprofit organization that has been dedicated to placing retired racing greyhounds in loving homes for over twenty years. To date we have placed more than 2000 dogs into homes where they have become members of the family.They just received a haul of 14 new greyhounds and could use your support!
Our goal, in addition to finding loving homes for these kind and gentle creatures, is to make the public aware of the enormity of the pet overpopulation problem...

QuadCities Greyhound Adoption is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. "Our goal is to find loving homes for retired racing greyhounds. We bring them to our kennel where we get them vetted and take care of them until their forever family comes a long. We give them a lot of love, but there is also a lot of work. 

We are all volunteers and we fund raise or write grants to keep us going. We do this for the love of greyhounds. We figure they worked hard for a living and now it's time they get a good retirement!

Charity of the month: Save a Galgo Espanol, May 2019

Save A Galgo Español (SAGE)  is a small Non Profit based in South Central Pennsylvania and was founded in 2011 to raise awareness and make a difference in the lives of the Galgo Español, a sighthound breed, used for hunting hare in its country of origin, Spain.
Their main goals are to educate people about the situation of the Galgo Español and to support local shelters in Spain through fundraising.

Another important part of our work is the placement of rescued galgos into safe and loving homes. SAGE is working with 3 rescues in Spain, to bring as many Galgos to the US for permanent homes as possible.

Charity of the Month: Friends of Retired Greyhounds, April 2019

Friends of Retired Greyhounds is a 501c3 non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to working with kennel operators and other adoption groups to place retired greyhounds in responsible, loving homes. Our organization works with veterinarians to insure that dogs adopted from FOR Greyhounds are vaccinated, and in general good health before placing them in homes. In addition to this, we educate individual and groups about greyhounds, their history, their lives as racing dogs, and our adoption program.

"We are three short weeks away from leaving for Spain to bring back some of the so deserving Galgos currently residing at Scooby Medina.  Although there are so many of these precious animals that need to be rehomed, FORG, along with Daphne Legacy Tours, has asked Scooby Medina to allow us to bring back 36 that have been in the shelter the longest.  There are some that in their short lives have spent more time in the shelter than they have outside the shelter.  Many of these galgos are under three years of age and they have only known shelter life.  
It averages $1,000 a galgo to get them to the US so your help is greytly needed and appreciated. Again - thank you for helping us help the Spanish Galgo."

Charity of the Month: Greyhound Adoption Center, March 2019

GreyhoundAdoption Center is an organization that invests in HOPE and HAPPY ENDINGS.

"We see Greyhounds’ potential and amazingly, these dogs who have no reason to trust humans, give us their trust. With love, nutrition, and medical care, we see them transform from hopeless to hopeful.  Then we take it a step further.  Because they have trusted us, we feel it is our obligation to do everything we can to ensure their happy ending.  We work with adopters to match their lifestyles to the right dog.  Each adoption day is a new beginning and reinforces our hope in happily ever after.  

Now we are based in a volunteer-built shelter which is licensed, clean, comfortable, and climate-controlled.  Our center has 3.5 acres of land, two expansive, fully fenced grassy fields, 13 spacious “Dog Condos” and a primary greyhound lodging kennel. We often have around 50 dogs on premises.GAC relies on the generosity of members, sponsors, donors and volunteers.  The Greyhound Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) charity."

AwesomeGreyhound Adoptions, Inc. is a 501c3 corporation completely run by volunteers who are dedicated to finding responsible, loving homes for racing greyhounds that no longer qualify to compete at the racetrack. We support the southeast Florida area, including Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie Counties.

These highly-trainable dogs are given the chance to find placement as pets, as therapy dogs or as fully-trained service dogs for veterans.  AGA carefully evaluates each greyhound for temperament and health to place each dog into a pet home or to have them carefully selected as a service or therapy dog for veterans through the Hounds & Heroes Program
