Bexata Animal Sanctuary, Inc. is a non-profit corporation founded in 2009 as a private animal sanctuary, which has evolved into a private Greyhound rescue, Greyhound Rescue San Antonio. Our purpose is to find homes for young, racing schooled Greyhounds and to educate the public on the suitability and availability of Greyhounds as pets. Our mission is motivated by a thorough understanding of the breed and the environmental characteristics that help the breed excel alongside their human handlers. To that end, we offer public adoption events, an informative website, and one-on-one attention via telephone and e-mail to help new owners of our Greyhounds learn how to transition their new pets into their families. Bexata works with rescues as far away as California to do its best to ensure each Greyhound without a home can find a permanent place they too can call their own.

Charity of the Month: Northern Lights Greyhound Adoption, May 2021

Northern Lights Greyhound Adoption (NLGA) is a nonprofit group of volunteers dedicated to finding responsible homes for retired racing greyhounds and educating the public about greyhounds as pets. NLGA has been placing these faithful, loving and wonderful companions for over 21 years. In that time we have found homes for over 1,600 dogs. Our experienced adoption coordinators will work closely with you to find  out if a greyhound is the right breed for you, your family and your lifestyle.

Charity of the Month: Galgopod, April 2021

Galgopod.org is a 501(c)(3) public charity organized 2018 to encourage adoption of Galgos (Spanish Greyhounds) and Podencos as an alternative to American greyhounds, which are now in short supply due to diminished racing. They are currently based in California and staffed completely by volunteers.

Galgopod works closely with and directs resources to centers that rescue, rehabilitate and relocate abused and abandoned Galgos and Podencos from Spain.  They also support U.S. and Canadian groups that champion the rescue and adoption of Galgos and Podencos. Fundraising is a huge part of this work. Due to current EU travel restrictions, the only way to transport rescue dogs at this time is by using a cargo service. The logistics of transporting the dogs to the airport is also more involved as well, resulting in a total higher transportation cost of approximately $1700 per dog. Once the dogs arrive at JFK, they are picked up by their respective adoption groups and are on their way to their forever homes here in the United States.

The Greyhound Rescue Society of Texas, Incorporated dba Greyhounds Unlimited is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to finding caring and responsible homes for retired racing and rescued greyhounds. The specific objectives of Greyhounds Unlimited are to promote a caring attitude toward all greyhounds, prevent cruelty to greyhounds, and for those that have been abused, to relieve their suffering.

To reach its' objectives, Greyhounds Unlimited finds caring and responsible homes; rescues sick, injured and abandoned greyhounds; seeks to return lost greyhounds to their owners; teaches the principles of kindness and humane dog care to children and adults; and vigorously promotes animal birth control through every possible means.

Founded in 1995, GRONY is an all volunteer nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to placing retired racing Greyhounds into homes in New York. All our adoptable dogs are housed in volunteer foster homes until they are adopted. Great care is taken to match each Greyhound with the right home environment. Our volunteers have years of experience with Greyhounds as well as being Greyhound owners themselves. It all works only with your support.
